Richard Alan Boss, 84, of Concord passed away peacefully at Pleasant View Retirement Friday, Jan. 17, 2014.

He was born in Springfield, Mass., the son of the late Dr. Eugene G. Boss and Joanna C. (Daly) Boss. He attended Wilbraham Academy where he excelled in both academics and athletics. He earned a degree in Business Administration from Middlebury College and a Masters in Chemical Engineering from the University of Maine.
He spent his career in the Pulp and Paper industry holding technical and management positions in a number of companies in the northeast. Among his many outside activities, he was active in the Kiwanis Club and served on the Board of the Catholic Charities. He enjoyed playing golf and was an avid reader. He was a fan of the Boston Red Sox since childhood.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 56 years, Marilyn M. (Raymond) Boss; one sister, Julia M. Goodrich; two brothers, Eugene G. Boss Jr. and Thomas E. Boss.
He is survived by his five children, Richard A Boss Jr., MD of Concord, Stephen M. Boss of Valencia, Calif., Kathleen J. Boss of Columbus, Ohio, David T. Boss, MD of Wall Township, N.J. and Julia C. (Boss) Jones of Wailuku, Hawaii; and eight grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held in Springfield, Mass. later this year.
Burial will be in the St. Michaels Cemetery, Springfield, Mass.
