Patricia Ann "Patsy" Flamand, 81, passed away peacefully at home, Friday Jan. 31, 2014, with her children by her side.

She was born Jan. 2, 1933, in Pembroke Paris, Bermuda. Pat was the daughter of the late C.W. Roach and Anne (Gauld) Roach. She is predeceased by the love of her life, her husband, Albert J. Flamand and her brother Peter Roach.

While growing up in Bermuda she had many fond memories of swimming at "the rocks", fishing with just a piece of string and a hook, and bicycling from one end of the island to the other. She also was an avid diver, going as far as trying out for the Olympics. It was always a pleasure to hear her stories!

After graduating from St. Agnes Academy in Bermuda and before leaving for the Lawrence General Hospital in Lawrence, Mass., where she received an RN degree, she met her husband, Albert Flamand while at an island sponsored dance with the "boys" from the military base in Bermuda.

They married in 1954, leaving her RN career she became a full time Military wife and mother. Never complaining as she moved with three children almost every two years for 25 years, thru-out Hawaii, Europe, Southern, Central and Northern United States. She was a real Trooper!

Finding herself widowed in 1980 ,she for the first time got her drivers license, found a job at Maple Leaf Nursing Home, Manchester, and continued to care for her family anyway she could.

She loved gardening, spending hours at a time outside in her flower gardens, making the world a little more beautiful, one flower at a time. She would go camping anytime she could, and especially loved camping at the yearly "Flamand Reunion" in Rhode Island. She was a firm believer of helping others, giving to many charities and to the homeless. She was a lover of cats and animals in general.

She is survived by her son, Peter A. Flamand, and his partner, Mark Wedmore; her daughters, Sandra J. Flamand and Pamela A. Flamand and her partner, Peter M. Averill; her brother, Walter Roach and his wife, Laurie; grandchildren, Melissa Dowling and her husband, Max, Sarena Thompson, Victoria Avery and B. Dylan Prescott. She also leaves six great-grandchildren, cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, and the many friends she met throughout the years, along with her cat Brownie.

Her family would like to extend theirs thanks to all of the nurses and staff at the Concord Regional Visiting Nurses Hospice program, especially her nurse, Erin.

Calling hours will be Thursday, Feb. 6, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Waters Funeral Home, 50 S. Main St., Concord.

Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. in the chapel of the Waters Funeral Home.

Burial will be held in the spring at Evans Cemetery in Bow.

In lieu of flowers the family welcomes donations to either the Paralyzed Veterans of America, 7 Mill Brook Road, Wilton NH 03086, or the SPCA of Concord NH, 130 Washington St., Penacook NH 03303.
