HOOKSETT – Mr. Raymond Pascucelli, 87, a Hooksett resident since 1961, died Sunday, Feb. 23, 2014, at the Harris Hill Health Care Center in Concord.
Born in New Haven, Conn.. on April 24, 1926, Raymond was the son of Michael and Philomena (Fusco) Pascucelli.
At 17 after graduating from high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, retiring after 31 years of service with the rank of Chief Gunner's Mate. He served overseas during World War II and the Korean Conflict and then as a recruiting officer during Viet Nam. He was a member of the Fleet Reserve Association, Unit 338 of Nashua.
Mr. Pascucelli worked for the State of NH, Dept. of Employment Security in Manchester until 1994. He was also an operations supervisor for Goodwill Industries and the water commissioner for the Hooksett Village Water Precinct.
An avid sportsman and outdoorsman, Ray loved hunting and fishing, canoeing and snowmobiling.
He was the widower of Vera (Hartwick) Pascucelli, who died in 2005 and to whom he had been happily married for 55 years.
He is survived by a sister, Loretta Schebell of Naugatuck; and several nieces and nephews, Janet Akerley, Mark Schebell, Kathleen Schebell, Gary Schebell, Lea Castori, Patricia Pascucelli, Michael J. Pascucelli, Steven Pascucelli, and Mary Beth Martinez.
Friends and relatives are invited to calling hours Thursday, Feb. 27, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Petit Funeral Home, 167 Main St., Pembroke.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, Feb. 28, at 10 a.m. at Holy Rosary Church in Hooksett, followed by burial with military honors at the NH State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen at noon.
