John Edward "Jack" Odey, 77, passed away peacefully Sunday, March 23, 2014, at CRVNA Hospice House after a long battle with Parkinson's Disease.

He was born Sept. 16, 1936, to Mary Josephine (Murphy) and Edward James Odey. He attended St. John's School where he was an All American athlete playing football, basketball and baseball and graduated in 1954. He was elected to the Catholic Schools Hall of Fame. He attended the University of New Hampshire and then joined the U.S. Army where he served in Korea.

After his military service, he began work at Concord Litho Co. where he was employed as a pressman for 40 years. He was an avid golfer and sports fan.

He was predeceased by an infant daughter, Kathleen Mary.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Emily Anne (Kachmar) Odey of Concord; a daughter, Karin Anne Truitte and her husband, David, of Lynchburg, Va.; two sons, Colonel (ret.) John Michael Odey and his wife, Sharon (Ross), of O'Fallon Ill. and Edward James Odey II of Leominster Mass.; five grandsons, Kevin Edward Truitte of Washington D.C., Ryan Joseph, Jeffrey Michael, Matthew David and Nathan Thomas Truitte all of Lynchburg, Va. One sister, Louise Dunn and her husband, Arthur, of Northport Fla.; several nephews, nieces and cousins. He was very proud of all his family.

There will be no visiting hours.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, March 27, at 10 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 180 Loudon Road, Concord.
