Edith H. Bishop, 86, died Sunday, March 23, 2014, at Havenwood Nursing Home in Concord.

Born in Wollaston, Mass., on May 18, 1927, she was the daughter of Ernest S. and Hilda C. (Swanson) Holm.

Edith attended schools in Quincy, Mass. She married Robert Bishop on Oct. 11, 1948. From 1963 to 1975 they lived in Lyndeboro.

While living in Lyndeboro she was active in Cub Scouts as a Den Leader. With the help of others she began a hot lunch program at the elementary school. She was also a part-time police officer for a period of time.

In 1975 Bob and Edie moved to Canterbury. They enjoyed many years there. Edie enjoyed horses and animals immensely. She and Bob were original members of the Granite State Carriage Association which was founded in 1978. They also became members of the Tall Pines Equestrian Club in Northfield.

They moved to Heritage Heights in Concord in 1997. Her husband Bob passed away in March of 2000.

Survivors include her children, Chuck Bishop of Inman, S.C., Meg Bishop of Longmont, Colo. and Deb Bishop of Park City, Utah; her siblings, Ernie Holm of Stratham, Dottie Thayer of Marshfield, Mass. and Barbara Griffiths of Butte, Mont.; and her grandchildren, Vanessa Bishop, Eric Bishop-Berry, Dylan Bishop-Berry and Julia Bishop; and one great-grandchild, Nicolai Nissen.

Services will be held at a later date in the spring.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Havenwood Heritage Heights Endowment Fund, 33 Christian Avenue, Concord, NH 03301.
