Maureen Tucke Johnson, 69, born in Concord and raised in North Chelmsford, Mass., died Aug. 25, 2013, in Morganton, N.C.
The Guest Book is expired.
Maureen was the daughter of the late John Parker Tucke and Mildred Marie Finch. Growing up in both New Hampshire and Massachusetts, she became a registered nurse in New Hampshire and earned her master's degree in psychiatric nursing from Boston College.
She served as the director of nursing for the state of Connecticut, and taught at the Foxboro School of Nursing. In the late 1970s, she moved to Morganton, N.C., with her late husband, Dr. James Johnson, and founded her own health food business: Nature's Bounty. Over the course of 35 years, she became actively involved in the local community and ministered to thousands of residents.
Maureen was dearly beloved by family and friends, and was blessed with a loving, compassionate and generous spirit. She gave unselfishly to promote the welfare of others while surrendering self-serving interests. She truly epitomized the love of Jesus Christ.
She is survived by her brother, John Tucke; a stepdaughter, Lynne Johnson of Vancouver, British Columbia; one nephew and three nieces; in addition to cousins and extended family members.
An informal graveside service will be Monday at 2 p.m. at the Fairview Cemetery in Chelmsford, Mass. Family and friends are encouraged to bring flowers and to contact John Tucke at 760-532-9961.
