Concord – Eileen B. White, 101, died Sunday, May 18, 2014, at Concord Hospital. She was born May 27, 1912, in Warner, the daughter of the late Jacob C. and Barbara (Karins) Burbank. She grew up in Warner and was valedictorian of the Class of 1929 of Simonds High School in Warner.
After a secretarial course at Boston's Bryant Stratton College, she returned to be a telephonist at the State House in Concord. She married the late William J. Reid of Boston. They had four children. After traveling for years, they settled in Manhattan. After his death in December 1962, she moved to Florida with her two younger sons. In June 1971, she married the late Rev. H. Gordon White. They traveled to more than 30 states selling their art; his, heraldic knight coats of arms, and hers, miniatures of nature scenes. They then settled in Warner.
Eileen is survived by her daughter, Eileen Wilcock, and her husband, Eric, their three children, Alexander, Richard and his wife, Jane, Helen and her husband, Jay, and two great-grandchildren, Sam and Caitlin, all of England; two sons, William J. Reid Jr. of New York City and David P. Reid of Miami. She is also survived by her sister, Sylvia Blanchette of Concord, the recent widow of Alphe Blanchette, their daughter Karen Blanchette of Concord; Claire Watterson and her husband, Rick, of Penacook, her son Arty Bousquet and his wife, Nancy, of Andover and Larry Blanchette and his wife, Helen, of Wyndham.
She was predeceased by her youngest son, Peter Reid, in 1994 and by her sister, Janis C. Burbank, in 2010.
Visiting hours will be held Tuesday, May 27, 2014, from 11 a.m. to noon at Waters Funeral Home, 50 S. Main St., Concord.
Funeral services will follow in the chapel of Waters Funeral Home at noon. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Main Street, Warner.
In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Vincent De Paul Food Pantry, c/o Christ the King Parish/St. Peter, 135 N. State St., Concord 03301.
