BRISTOL – Melva F. Brown, 86, of Chestnut Street, died Monday, June 16, 2014, after a period of declining health. A lifelong resident of Bristol, born to William Fitch and Laura (Charron) French. She attended local schools and graduated from Bristol High. Melva worked at Dead River Oil Co. and the former Carr Co. She was the wife of the late E. Dean Brown.

Melva loved her family and was supportive of her children and their activities as youths. She loved to camp and always looked forward to outings at the ocean with her sisters. She also spent time sewing and making ceramics and was active with the Bristol Area Seniors' Group and their luncheons.
Family members include two sons, Trevor Brown of York, Maine and Doug Brown of Deerfield; a daughter, Deanna Kelley of Hollis; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Shirley O'Brien of Rockport, Mass. and Norma Hague of Rocky Hill, Conn.; a brother, Roger French of Bridgewater; many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be Friday, June 20, from 12 to 1:30 p.m. at the Emmons Funeral Home, 115 South Main St., Bristol.
Funeral Services will follow at 1:30 in the funeral home, Rev. Andrew McLeod will officiate.
Burial will be in Homeland Cemetery, Bristol.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Newfound Area Nursing Association-Hospice Program, 214 Lake St., Bristol, NH 03222.
