EPSOM – Mr. Thomas I. Skidmore, 68, died Thursday, June 19, 2014, at his home on New Rye Road in Epsom after a lengthy illness.
Born on June 20, 1945, in Winchester, Mass., he grew up in No. Reading, Mass. before moving to Maine, where he received an Associates' Degree in Accounting from Westbrook College.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War and, after his discharge, he eventually went to work for the U.S. Postal Service as an Administrative Assistant in Lowell, Mass.
He had been a resident of Epsom for the past 14 years and loved working on and building automobiles. He was a member of the National Street Rod Association.
Tom was predeceased by his mother and step-father, May Belle (Gaw) Funk and Donald Funk.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Ann (Boynton) Skidmore of Epsom; two sons, Shannon Skidmore of Loudon and Eric Papkee and his wife, Jill, of Hanover, Mass.; five of the most loved people in his life, his grandchildren, Riley, Taylor, Abigail, (who shared a birthday with "Papa"), Luke and Julia; and a brother, Robert Skidmore of Gatlinburg, Tenn.
Calling hours are Sunday, June 22, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Still Oaks Funeral & Memorial Home, 1217 Suncook Valley Highway, Epsom.
Graveside services with military honors will be held on Monday, June 23, at 12:30 p.m. at the NH State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen.
