Virginia J. Maltais, age 90, died Saturday, July 19, 2014, at the Harris Hill Nursing/Rehab Home.
She was born in White River Junction, Vt., daughter of the late Louis John and Margaret Mae (Harrington) Jackson. Virginia is the last of 10 siblings. Virginia was employed as an LPN working at the New Hampshire State Hospital; she also worked at Rumford Press and in the family business, Maltais Plumbing, Heating and Electrical, as an accountant.
Virginia (Jean) enjoyed cooking, gardening, dancing, music, social outings, coffee with the neighbors and numerous family activities and gatherings. She was a member of the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary, East Concord Lamplighters, Sacred Heart Woman's Club, and a parishioner of Christ the King Parish/St. Johns.
She was predeceased by her husband of 69 years, Arthur L. Maltais and a daughter, Dr. Judith E. Benvenutti of Diamondhead, Miss.
She is survived by one son, David Maltais and his wife, Elaine of Epsom; two daughters, Theresa Morrill and her fiancé Gary Esancy of Northwood, and Gloria Zarotny and her fiance Gayle Wortman of Rutland, Vt. She had seven grandchildren, Dr. Erica Benvenutti-Karaphillis, Kristie Jacobellis, Joe Murphy, Eric Morrill, Laurie Morrill, Melinda Flanagan, Abby Zarotny, and eight great-grandchildren. She had many nieces, nephews and a loving extended family.
Visiting hours will not be held.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at Christ the King Parish St. Johns Church, 72 S. Main St., Concord, NH, 03301.
Burial will follow in the Blossom Hill Cemetery for the immediate family.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the N.H. Blind Association at 25 Walker St., Concord, NH, 03301 or a charity or church of your choice.
