NEW HAMPTON – Eugene Morgan, 67, born January 1947 in Plymouth, to John and Kathryn Morgan, died Wednesday, July 20, 2014.

Eugene grew up with two sisters, Ginne and Elaine and brother, John. He was drafted into the Vietnam War in 1966, and served in the Army and for the Australian Royal army for two years prior to being wounded and subsequently discharged from service. Upon returning home, he met and married Linda Mack of Portsmouth in 1969. They bought Wallis Brook Farm in 1969. Eugene started producing maple syrup shortly after moving in, and also later started a woodlot management business. They lost one child shortly after birth in 1974, and had a daughter Jessica, in 1978.

Eugene is survived by his wife, Linda; daughter, Jessica; and his foster daughter, Denise Downing and son-in-law, Peter; and grandchildren, Peter and Jordan Downing. Eugene is survived by his siblings, his sister, Ginne Saulnier, her children, Ted and Darla; his brother, John and sister-in-law, Marion, their children, Angela and Marion; his brother-in-law, Melvin Defosses (predeceased by his sister, Elaine Defosses), and their children, Dale, Cheryl and Shawn. He is also survived by his wife's brother, Greg Mack's (predeceased) children, Pat, Terry, Rachel and Ben; and his wife's brother, David Mack and sister-in-law, Cindy, and their children, Kathie and Kevin.

Informal graveside services and celebration of his life will be held Sunday, August 17, at 2 p.m. at the family home at 178 Cross Road, New Hampton.

The Mayhew Funeral Homes and Meredith Bay Crematorium are assisting the family with arrangements.
