Robert A. Vachon, 91, passed away peacefully Monday, August 11, 2014, at Presidential Oaks in Concord.

He was born in Laconia, the son of the late Leon and Alice (Johnson) Vachon.

Bob was a World War II veteran of the Army, 82nd Airborne, and was captured after jumping on D-Day. He spent nine months as a POW before being liberated. He founded R.A. Vachon and Son and built new homes in the Concord area for over 50 years. Bob enjoyed fishing, hunting and golf. He was also an avid snowmobiler, active in the Turtle Town Snow-Snappers for many years.

He was married to the late Rita Vachon for 68 years who passed away in 2013. He as also pre-deceased by his sister, Hazel Pratt and his brother, Clifton Vachon.

He is survived by two children, Linda Baker of Concord and Robert J. Vachon and his wife, Paula, of Concord; grandchildren, Corey Lakevicius, Leanne Turni, Sarah Roberge, Andrew Vachon and Dara-Lynn Baker; and eight great-grandchildren.

Visiting hours will not be held.

Funeral services and committal will be held at the convenience of the family.
