PITTSFIELD – James D. Simpson, 68, died Monday, August 18, 2014, following a lengthy illness.

Born in Rochester, N.Y. he was the son of Oscar G. and Ruby Ann-Elizabeth Simpson. He has resided in Pittsfield for the past 16 years previously living in Manchester. Prior to his retirement he had been employed for 39 years with General Electric of Hooksett. Jim was a Harley-Davidson Enthusiast . He enjoyed traveling on his bike throughout New England and Canada with his wife. He was a founding member and Past President of N.H. Motorcycle Rights Organization. He enjoyed spending time outdoors fishing, taking in a ball game or just spending time with family and friends. He had a wonderful sense of humor and will be fondly remembered for volunteering as Santa for more than 25 years at Deer Head Sportsman Club.

Members of his family include his wife, Janet (Hoadley) Simpson of Pittsfield. Five children, Lori Wilson of Manchester, Jeffrey Simpson of Fryeburg, Maine, Howie Little-Simpson of Pittsfield, Cheryl L. Wilson of Pembroke and Pamela Clark of Hooksett. Four grandchildren, Sarah, Allison, Finn and Brian. Three sisters, Sharon Pappas of Florida, Patty-Jo Ferguson of Pennsylvania and Wendy Havill of New York. Several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held Thursday, August 21 from 4 to 8 p.m. at French and Rising Funeral Home, 17 South Mast St., Goffstown.

Funeral services will be held Friday, August 22, at 11 a.m. at Epsom Bible Baptist Church, 398 Black Hall Road, Epsom.

Private burial will be at Head Cemetery of Hooksett.
