Marisa E. (Cittadini) McGrath, 89, of South Main Street, died Monday, November 26, 2012 at the Concord Hospital.

Mrs. McGrath was born in Florence, Italy March 5, 1923 the daughter of Carlo and Clara (Vannini) Cittadini. She graduated from the University of Florence with a major in art and nursing and became a naturalized citizen in 1957. Mrs. McGrath worked at the NH Highway Hotel in Concord for 33 years and in her retirement years worked as a homecare provider for over 10 years for a disabled person. She lived in Warner and Dunbarton before moving to Concord in 1958.

Mrs. McGrath was an excellent cook and took great pride in preparing meals in the Italian tradition. She was an amazingly avid reader having read thousands of books in her lifetime. She also enjoyed collecting figurines and knick knacks especially salt and pepper shakers.

She was predeceased by a son, James M. McGrath, in 1998.

Members of her family surviving include four children, Marisa E. Roach of Tallahassee, Fla., Joanne C. Staples of Lakeland, Tenn., Daniel E. McGrath of West Hartford, Conn. and John P. McGrath of Concord; many loving grandchildren including Brandon, Alan, Jessica, Ashley, Shawn, Dawn and Crystal; several great grandchildren; a sister, Yvonne Cittadini Magini of Florence, Italy; nieces and nephews.

A private family service will be held Friday, November 30, at 2 p.m., at the Chadwick Funeral Home, 235 Main Street, New London.
