Ruth French Miller, 88, of Concord, died peacefully Wednesday, December 5, 2012, surrounded by her loving children, grandchildren and great grandchildren at Merrimack County Nursing Home. She was born in Concord, July 26, 1924, daughter of the late Edward C. French and Catherine (Prower) French.

She was predeceased by her husband, Edward C. Miller, who passed away September 1, 2007. They were married on March 23, 1946 and resided in Bow for 29 years. They then moved to Concord to her family home on 25 Maple Street until taking ill in February 2011. She then moved to the Concord Hospice House in March 2011, were she resided until December 1, 2011. She then moved to Merrimack County Nursing Home due to her remarkable will of strength to remain with us. She became well-loved and enjoyed by many members of the staff. She made them laugh, loved her spirit and absorbed her spunkiness.

She began working at the Rumford Press at the age of 18 to when they closed in 1983. From there she went to work at Beede Electric until she retired in 1987. She was avid Bingo player who also loved to dance and knit, even to the end of life with her severe arthritic hands. She continuously routed for her favorite team, the Boston Red Sox. She was a former member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, post 1374, located in Concord.

She was extremely proud of her three grandsons, Eugene D. Laramee who served in the U.S. Army, Adam S. Lassonde who served in the U.S. Marines and Robert C. Miller, Jr. who served in the U.S. Navy; her granddaughter, Tina M. DeGreenia who also served in the U.S. Army.

She is survived by her sons, Robert C. Miller, Sr. and his wife, Cyndee Miller of Berlin, Glenn F. Miller of Berlin; her daughters, Nancy L. Laramee of Sanford, Maine, Susan K. Pickard of Tavares, Fla., Katherine A. Lassonde of Concord, Karen A. Sargent of Concord; and raised, along with her husband, two eldest granddaughters; Laura L. Sisk and her husband Shawn P. Sisk of Chichester, Tina M. DeGreenia of Concord; 20 grandchildren and one step-granddaughter; 29 great-grandchildren and three great, great-grandchildren; her sister, Carolyn M. Quinn and her husband, former City of Concord Mayor, J. Herbert Quinn of New Port Richey, Fla.:

"Ruthie was a special gem found on this earth. Respected by many, loved by her family and co-workers during her many years of employment at the Rumford Printing Company. The Miller family spent hours at her hospital bed, encouraging her spirit. Ruthie was a caring, loving mother/grandmother. She loved her babies, and received much comfort from her children and grandchildren during her long recent illness. Ruth Miller was a devoted bingo player and Boston Red Sox cheerleader, win or lose. She was a shining example along life's path – what a real life person was all about. She will be welcomed into the heavens with open arms where husband, Ed Miller, is waiting. The Miller family thanks her doctors and entire staffs for excellent medical care at the Merrimack County Nursing Home and the hospice facility in Concord. Daughters, Kathy and Karen, visited her daily while at both facilities, many times with their children and grandchildren, who Ruthie always enjoyed. Granddaughter, Laura was there also for Ruthie. Farewell mother, grandmother, sister, we will miss you. Rah, Rah, Rah – three cheers for Ruthie!

Love Herbie and Caroyln"

Barbara Richards of Concord, and LeRoy E. French and his wife, Ellie French of Northfield; and her sister-in-law, Marilyn E. Miller of Franklin, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by her sister, Muriel C. David, of Concord, and grandson, Mark T. Miller, of Berlin.

She enjoyed having family surround her as often as possible. She will be forever grateful to her daughters, Katherine and Karen for their continuous daily devotion and constant loving care; for her granddaughters and their support and to her sister, Carolyn, for her continuous nightly phone call conversations and loving prayers.

And our family gives a special thank you to her "real" cat, Peter, he was her constant companion during alone times. And to her "stuffed" cat, Peter, who traveled to her many hospital and nursing facilities and will remain with her for eternity. She will be missed greatly, respected, honored and loved forever!
