For many years at Presidential Oaks she tended to her gardens on the property and was known for her lovely flowers, especially her roses. She also loved cats and was known for making doughnuts in the wee hours of the morning. Margaret did volunteer work at Presidential Oaks, up until her health wouldn't let her. She was a communicant of St. Patrick Church in Jaffrey.

In 1935 Margaret married Oliver Johnson; that marriage dissolved in 1958. She married John P. Best Sr. in 1960. John predeceased her in 1976. She then married Ralph Crawford and he died in 1989.

She is survived by her daughter Olive D. Ryan of Contoocook; her son Clinton L.
