BOSCAWEN – Van E. Hill, 75, of Boscawen passed away peacefully Saturday, May 3, 2014, following a period of declining health. He was surrounded by the love and light of his family and friends.

Van was born in Bristol on March 19, 1939, son of the late Stanley and Madelyn (Merrill) Hill. He was raised in Bristol and attended Bristol High School. Following graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, proudly serving his country from 1961 through 1965. After he was discharged from the military Van earned an Associate's degree in computer science from Concord Commercial College. Van was an active member of the Elks for nearly 18 years, serving as Exalted Ruler in 1999-2000. He was also a member of the Boscawen Congregational Church. In his life, Van enjoyed hunting, fishing and watching sports on TV, but nothing made him happier than spending time with his family. He spent 8 years coaching Boscawen Babe Ruth Baseball and led each of his two sons' teams to a championship.

Van is survived by his wife, June (Willey) Hill. He asked her to dance the night they met, they fell in love instantly and danced together for the next 48 years. He also leaves behind his two sons, Scott Hill and his wife, Julie of Penacook and Todd Hill and his wife, Pamela of Penacook; grandson, Christopher, his pride and joy; and several nieces and nephews.
