George Eaton Obituary

George S. Eaton
Oct 4,1940 - Mar 28,2013
Resident of Walnut Creek
George was born in Los Angeles on Oct. 4, 1940. He lived in Los Angeles and San Diego until his early teens. George and his sister, Patty moved to Virginia City, Nevada, and were adopted by Jerry and Carroll Eaton. After graduating, George joined the Navy. After service he returned to Virginia City to work with his parents who owned the Silver Queen Casino. It was there he met his wife, Patty, and was married in 1963. They later moved to California. George and Patty were blessed with two children, Debbie and Lance. George attended Diablo Valley College and later taught in the Hotel and Restaurant Management Program. He began working as a bartender, general manager, and later was an owner operator of the Golden Oak Restaurant. The entire family worked together and he watched his children learn all phases of the hospitality field. George was very proud of his family. George was thankful for the close relationship he shared with his father in law, Charles Hardenbrook. He met his best friend, Denny Lovesy, while working at the Casa Orinda as a bartender. They loved working together and loved sharing stories, which got funnier each time they told them. George was an avid sports fan. He loved the 49ers and the Giants. He enjoyed the annual family trip to the horse races at the Alameda County Fair. George knew he was blessed and cherished his family. His granddaughter, Savannah lit up his life each day. George was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2002. He was remarkable in fighting the disease. His health declined and was in Oak Park Convalescent Hospital since 2010. He made many friends with the employees and the residents. He was thankful for the loving and dedicated care. George is survived by Patty, his wife of 50 years, daughter, Debbie (Richard) Daniels, granddaughter Savannah, two sisters, Patty Smith and Sharon (Billy) Taylor, nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends. The greatest loss in his life was losing his son, Lance, at age 24. Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of his Life on Saturday, April 6, 2013 at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, 1601 Mary Drive, Pleasant Hill, CA at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Hospice of the East Bay, 3470 Buskirk Avenue, Pleasant Hill, CA 94523

So many wonderful things about George. From one bartender to another, George was nothing but "class". He could have been a radio man with that caring, smooth, warm voice. He knew his craft, and he knew how manage all types of people. George was an absolute gem of a man. Who did'nt look forward to seeing and sharing a time with George . Sincere, friendly and fatherly to all, George truly made the world around him a 'better' place.
