Halbrook, Eugene Belden - Pleasanton  
Eugene Belden Halbrook Jan. 5, 1933 - Jan. 20, 2015 Resident of Pleasanton Eugene (Gene) Halbrook, 82, passed away on January 20, 2015 at Valley Care Skilled Nursing Facility in Livermore; after several months of health problems related to congestive heart failure. Gene is survived by his wife of 57 years, Sally Halbrook; his daughter, Carrie Halbrook, and grandchildren Marissa and Jacob Contreras; his son and daughter in law Robert (Scott) and Kirsten Halbrook and grandchildren, Lauren and Deagon Halbrook. He is also survived by his brother and sister inlaw, Robert and Pam Halbrook in Arizona and his sister and brother inlaw, Ginny and Bill Peattie in Florida. Gene was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him. A memorial will be held on Sunday, February 8, 2015 at 1:00pm at GrahamHitch Mortuary in Pleasanton with a celebration to follow at the Hop Yard in Pleasanton.

Hall II, George Wilson - Contra Costa  
George Wilson Hall II Nov. 25, 1944 - Jan. 21, 2015 Resident of Moraga George Wilson Hall II, 70, of Moraga, passed away peacefully at home January 21, 2015 with his family by his side. George was born on Nov. 25, 1944 in Malone, New York. His quick wit and generosity will be missed by everyone who knew him. George enjoyed weekly golf outings (he recently shot a personal best of 66), softball, the Lion's club, playing his clarinet, poker nights, and chatting with almost anyone willing to debate their opinion. He touched all those around him with his love, sincerity, friendliness, humor, intelligence and incredible strength. George is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Peggy, children Julia (Kris) and Stephen (Ida), grandchild Ansley, sister Cindy, and brothers Steve and Brian. Friends and family are invited to celebrate George's life on Friday, January 30 at 10:30am at St. Monica's Church in Moraga, followed by a burial at Queen of Heavens in Lafayette. Hammond, Sharon R. - Brentwood  
Sharon R. Hammond Dec. 16, 1938 ~ Jan. 22, 2015 Brentwood Sharon Rose Hammond passed away on Thursday surrounded by her loving family. She will be remembered for her love of family and positive outlook on life. Sharon was born to Leonard and Loretta Hughes in Fairbury NEB. and graduated from Fairbury High School class of 57. She attended Fairbury College and married Ron Hammond in Dec. 1958 before moving to California. She was a resident of Martinez CA for 35+ yrs. where she raised her four loving children. She stayed active shuttling her children & grandchildren between cheer and sports and cheering them on at games. Sharon volunteered her time MJHS Library and taught CCD at St. Catherines Catholic Church in Martinez. She enjoyed bowling, camping, and cheering on her favorite sports teams. Sharon is survived by her children, Brent Hammond (Mary Anne), Brian Hammond (Lory), Rhonda Pense (Jerry), Dianna Bruno (John), and Grandchildren Ryan, Lauren Hammond, Brianna, Mitchel Hammond, Scott, Robbie and Jake Pense, James, Megan Bruno. Although you'll be missed your love lives on in our hearts. Friends and family are invited to attend visitation on Thursday, January 29th from 3~8 PM with Vigil at 7 PM at Connolly & Taylor. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, January 30th at 9 AM at Christ the King Catholic Church in Pleasant Hill, with interment to follow at Oakmont Memorial Park.

Hardcastle, Walter - Brentwood  
Walter Hardcastle Aug. 4, 1926 - Dec. 12, 2014 Resident of Brentwood Walter Joseph Hardcastle passed away peacefully with his son Doug at his side Dec. 12, 2014. Born August 4, 1926 in Sacramento Ca to Ella Ruth & Walter Hardcastle, Walt grew up in Eugene Oregon where he graduated from Bible Standard Training School in 1946. Walt & his wife Dorothy Mae moved to Martinez Ca. in 1948 & later Concord with their 5 children. Walt worked for Shell Oil Company in Martinez until 1972 when he opened Hardcastle Travel Sales in Pacheco with his sons Joe, Doug, & Scott. The third of 6 children, Walt was preceded in death by his wife Irene, the Mother of his children, Dorothy Mae Hughes, son John, & siblings Harry, Bernice & John. Walt is survived by son Joseph (Juliann), son Doug (Linda), son Scott (Cindy) and daughter Paula. Walter is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren as well as sisters Elizabeth Henderson & Mary Clary, and numerous nieces & nephews. A memorial service for Walter will be held Saturday February 21 at 2:00pm at Golden Hills Community Church in Brentwood. Harelson, Robert - Contra Costa  
Robert Harelson April 4, 1919-December 17, 2014 La Jolla Robert Joseph Harelson entered peacefully into rest on December 17, 2014. He was born in San Francisco to Otto and Lucy Harelson. In 1941, he married the love of his life Anna Marie Eck (whom he affectionately called "Tootsie"). Bob was a graduate of University of San Francisco. He served in the US Navy for six years during WW II. Bob had a series of interesting work experiences all of which influenced him to enter into the field of Human Behavior. He worked as a motorcycle police officer for the City of San Francisco, an agent for the Dept. of Alcohol and Beverage Control for the State of California and as a school administrator and psychologist in the SFUSD. Together, he and Anne ran a successful psychology practice in the East Bay for many years. In 1969 they both proudly completed their doctorate degrees in Human Behavior in a program headed by Dr. Carl Rogers. Bob and Anne were innovators in the field of Marriage and Family Therapy. They were one of the first couples to develop intensive group therapy programs for individuals and couples whose desire was to actualize their lives and relationships. They began with conducting groups in their home in Pleasant Hill, CA and as the business expanded, they moved into the Harelson Counseling Center in Lafayette, CA. After years of traveling back and forth to their vacation home in Hawaii, Bob and Anne retired to La Jolla in the 1980's, where Bob designed and built a beautiful home. Bob enjoyed playing tennis, swimming at the "Plunge", and walks on the beach. He had a wonderful sense of humor and a positive attitude which he kept throughout his entire life. Bob will be dearly missed by his wife and best friend Anne, their sons Robert (June), Douglas (Cynthia), grandchildren Melissa, Joe, Lars (Nichole) Harelson and Michelle Lewis (John), along with step-grandchildren, Colleen Flanagan, Kevin (Mirela), Lara, Rob (Jessie) and Ryan Albertsen and great-grandchildren Liliana, Nate and Luke Harelson, Annika, Kaylee and Owen Albertsen. A memorial service will be held January 31st at 11am, Holy Angels Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Lafayette 925-932-0900

Elaine C. Harrison Sept. 11, 1921 - Jan. 2, 2015 Resident of Antioch Born in San Francisco on Sept. 11, 1921, lifelong SF Giants fan Elaine Cecilia Harrison passed away on Jan. 2, 2015 at the age of 93. An elegant and graceful hostess of exceptional style, Elaine was foremost a loving wife and mother. She belonged to the Carpe Diems, a college scholarship foundation and, with husband Harry, was a member of the Young Democrats. Harry, Elaine and friends founded the Just Us Club with its summer barbecues and winter dinner-dance parties. Interior decorating was her special passion. Elaine is survived by her children David, Ronald, and Roxann; grandchildren; great-grandchildren, and numerous relatives.

Hemphill, Eric James - Walnut Creek  
Eric James Hemphill Sept. 15, 1965 - Jan. 23, 2015 Walnut Creek Eric James Hemphill, 49, passed away suddenly on Jan. 23, 2015. He was born on Sept. 15, 1965, in Susanville. Eric was in the 1983 class at Lassen Union High School and graduated from Chico State University. For many years, Eric was a salesman for Inland Tires. He had recently started a new career with the California Lottery. Eric was a natural storyteller who was always willing to lend a helping hand. Eric's is survived by his parents, Dr. and Mrs. Hemphill, and his siblings Audrey Gold, Craig and Sonja Hemphill. Donations in his memory may be made to the Lassen High Alumni Assc, P.O. Henke, Jennifer Elizabeth - Richmond  
Jennifer Elizabeth Henke Apr. 1946 Dec. 2014 Resident of Richmond Jennifer Henke died Dec. 27, 2014, of pancreatic cancer. Jenny grew up in Daly City, the daughter of Hans and Susan Jacobsen and youngest of eight siblings. She attended UC Berkeley, where she met her husband, Curtis. She was a computer programmer at the UCSF Medical Center and an active member of Glad Tidings Temple, San Francisco; then Hilltop Community Church, Richmond; and finally First Presbyterian Church, Berkeley. Nearly a century after her father lost touch with his family, Jenny traveled to the Faroe Islands to search for her roots. She chronicled her discovery of her father's history in her book, "The Missing Son: A Faroe Island Saga." Jenny was predeceased by her husband Curt; she is survived by son Jonathan Henke (Blake Couey), daughter Natasha Jacob (John), and grandson Eliott Jacob. A memorial service was held Jan. 7.
