Lanfear, Helen Elizabeth Kostal - Oakland  
Helen Elizabeth Kostal Lanfear Oct. 6, 1921 - Mar. 12, 2016 Hayward Helen passed away on March 12, 2016 at the age of 94 and was born in Seattle, WA. She loved sewing, needle arts and rosemaling. Helen graduated from Oakland High School and attended Chabot College. She retired after 20 years as a beautician. Helen was a member of the Son's and Daughter's of Norway. She is survived by Penny Hicks & Adrian, Michael Lanfear and Jil Croll & Richard along with her 3 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Elida Mesa. Helen was preceded in passing by her loving husband Stan Lanfear of 56 years, 1 grandson, her 2 brothers and 2 sisters. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, April 30th at 2:00 pm. Larsen, Lawrence - Antioch  
Lawrence Larsen April 9, 1945 - April 23, 2016 Resident of Antioch Lawrence (Larry) P. Larsen, 71, died Saturday morning April 23rd, at the Dallas Ranch Commons, after a long battle with dementia. He leaves behind his loving wife of 47 years, Maria (Juarez) Larsen, his daughter Charlene, his son Larry & daughter-in-law Brenda, his sisters Karen, Diane & brother Dennis. He was preceded in death by his sister Darlene. He also leaves behind 5 loving grandchildren Christina, Racquel, Larry, Natalie & Tiffany and two great grandchildren Ruben & Lilyana. Larry was born and raised in Port Chicago, CA & graduated from Pacifica High School. He joined the Carpenters union and later worked in the Operator Engineers Union. Larry was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and family man. He loved spending time with all family, was an avid Raider fan and loved cars. Services will be held Friday, April 29th, at 11:00 am at Oak View Memorial Park in Antioch, CA. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Meals on Wheels or the Contra Costa County Food Bank. Larson, Judy Diane - Hayward  
Judy Diane Larson Resident of Hayward Judy Diane Larson passed away on Friday April 8, 2016, while on hospice care in Tracy, CA. She was born in Oakland, CA, to her late parents Charles and Doris Hoffman on January 20, 1943. Judy married Gary F. DeVore in 1963, and they have two children, Robin (Chris Lombardo) & Gary M. Devore; her pride and joy were her two grandsons, Steven & Andrew Glace. She is also survived by her brothers: Charles & Rick Hoffman, and her sisters: Jennifer, Linda, Anita and Patty. In 1993 Judy married Robert Larson, who passed away in 1996. Judy worked 35 years at Fairmont Hospital and retired in 2005. She was involved for many years with Parents Without Partners, as well as the Red Hat Ladies. She enjoyed traveling, attending wine festivals, going to plays & the movies, and had a love for animals. Judy was very devoted to her family, whom she loved spending time with, and was always very close to. We will miss her deeply, but she will remain in our hearts forever. Family and friends are invited to visit after 5:00PM and to the Vigil at 7:00PM both on Friday, April 29th, and to the Funeral Service on Saturday, April 30th at 12:00PM, all occurring at Holy Angels Funeral & Cremation Center, 1051 Harder Road, Hayward. In Loving Memory Robert E. (Bob) Lewis Born April 26, 1916 Happy Birthday Dad! Today we celebrate what would have been the 100th birthday of our father. Pittsburg High School Class of 1934. Married Albie S. Mattie of Antioch June 30, 1940. Avid bowler and expert card player, nicknamed "Professor". Died February 25, 1967 in an automobile accident at age 50. For those of us who were fortunate enough to have known and loved him, we still mourn a passing that came much too soon. Your sons, Danny, Bobby and Tommy, and all the members of the Lewis family, Robert, Rodney, Zac, Eric, Rachel, Joseph, Nicolette, Trevor, Bianca & Dante.

Lindley, Gary  
Gary Lindley July 4, 1936 - April 9, 2016 Lafayette With deep sadness, we announce the passing of Gary Lee Lindley of Lafayette, California. He passed away on April 9th, 2016 at Bruns House Hospice in Alamo. Gary was born in Nebraska on July 4th, 1936, and was raised in San Francisco. He graduated in 1953 from Lincoln High School where he played Varsity football. Gary subsequently joined the Navy and was deployed to Guam. After being discharged, he attended San Francisco City College where he studied Criminology. In 1963, he joined the San Francisco Police Department. Three years later he made a lateral transfer to the San Francisco Fire Department, where he retired as Lieutenant in 1989. At an early age, Gary formed a passion for building and rebuilding classic cars. He made a circle of life-long friends, who also shared the same passion. He led an active life of travel and adventure, and made memories with family and friends. He is survived by his wife Gail Hutton Lindley. He is also survived by his son Dennis and wife Paige; his daughter Patricia Howell; Kenny Hutton and wife Jeannie; Steve Hutton and wife Jennifer; his grandchildren Bryn and Kyle Lindley; Tess Harford Fields, Max Harford, Tara and Kia Howell, Hannah, Georgia, and Owen Hutton; Randy and Tyler Hutton; and great grandchild, Brenton Fields. The celebration of life will be held on Saturday May 28, 2016, Noon to 2:00 at the Lafayette Veterans Memorial Center 3780 Mt. Diablo Blvd., Lafayette, CA 94549. The family asks that donations be made to Bruns House in Gary's memory, where he received the best of care during his last days. Luoma, Fern V. - San Anselmo  
Fern V. Luoma Jul 19, 1927 - Apr 16, 2016 Resident of Albany Fern V. Luoma, nee Mullen, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, passed away peacefully on April 16, 2016. She was 88 years old and born on July 19, 1927 to Irish and English parents in Reno, Nevada. She was ninth of thirteen children and a 60 year resident of Albany, CA. She was married to her late husband, Robert "Bob" Luoma, for over 50 years until he passed in 2005. Fern and Bob shared a pride and a passion for the Albany community and spent over 50 years in support of their schools, sports and local businesses, sharing a special fondness for the Albany Little League. Fern spent much of her career as a newspaper publicist and City of Albany photographer, highlighting local team sports, their players and local business news. Since the 1960's she championed 'shop locally' with Albany businesses. Fern spent many years volunteering and working for the Albany Chamber of Commerce where she was instrumental in establishing Albany's role in the Solano Avenue Stroll. Fern is survived by her four children: Michael Luoma and his wife Marian of El Cerrito, CA, Susan Heath of San Anselmo, CA, Patricia Howard and her husband Gary of Petaluma, CA., and Don Luoma and his wife Julie Nicholls of Albany, CA., five grandchildren and one great grandchild. She is also survived by her five sisters and several nieces and cousins. She was considered the Mullen matriarch and in this role she loved to organize the family's annual Reno reunions and always cherished the time spent with her sisters. Fern was fiercely independent and a lover of family gatherings, dogs, newspapers, sports and gardening. Most of all she was incredibly generous and loved showering others with gifts. She was a vivacious, spirited and wonderful woman and will be missed by us all. Her final resting place will be with her husband at El Cerrito's Sunset View Cemetery.
