Charles (Chuck) Cannon passed away on Sunday at Valley Care Memorial Hospital. His smile touched the lives of so many people every single day.
Chuck was born in Ohio to Noah and Edith Cannon. He was the oldest of 4 siblings. He graduated from Beavercreek High School and then after graduation joined the Marines during the Korean War. His love of music led him to the Marine Corp Band where he played trombone. He also played with the Cincinnati Symphony and San Diego Junior Philharmonic.
He joined General Motors
/ Frigidaire where he worked for 48 years. In his leisure time he volunteered at Harvest Park Middle School as a basketball coach for 12 years. He worked at the Pleasanton Sports Park as an Umpire, Scorekeeper, Board member and Assignor for the LPUA. After 25 years of service on the field he continued to support new umpires by mentoring them.
Chuck enjoyed volunteering at a variety of pro golf and tennis tournaments throughout the west. He picked up his trombone once again after his retirement to play the Big Band sounds. He played in a variety of bands where he enjoyed entertaining at senior dances. In addition, Chuck sang with the Tri-Valley Repertory (Broadway Chorus).
Chuck is survived by his children and stepchildren Debra Ardoline (Neil) and Karen Hitesman (Mark), Linda Likarich, Rick Doerr (Babs), Russ Doerr (Marcie), Sandy Morgan (Travis) and daughter-in-law Margaret Cannon. Son, Bob Cannon preceded him in death. His sister Mary Gregoriew and brother John Shultz (Sheila) survive him as well. He has 19 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren that loved him dearly.
