Daniel Lynn Hoover LCDR USN Ret. Sept. 20, 1944 - Jul. 25, 2013 Resident of Brentwood Dan was born in Long Beach, CA and resided in Southern California until entering the U.S. Navy
in 1963. Throughout his career he served several tours of duty in Vietnam and other naval commands before retiring in San Diego in 1983, having achieved the rank of Lt. Commander. He then took his military experience into his civilian career as a technical writer. After moving to Brentwood with Margaret, his wife of 42 years, he devoted much of his time to various volunteer services in his beloved Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, John Muir Medical Center and other community organizations. Dan is survived by his wife Margaret, son Daniel (Holly), Son Mark (Kelli) and his two beautiful grandchildren Ellie and Lochlan. He is also survived by his brother Rick, his wife Stacy; their children, Kathy, Trent and Summer. Also, through his marriage to Margaret he was blessed with becoming part of her large family and will be missed by her brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews and extended relatives. Dan suffered many illnesses during his life, but where many would have faltered, he did not. He fought with his faith and love of family and friends and will be remembered for his strong resilience and many unexpected recoveries. He is now at peace. Friends and family are invited to his Funeral Mass at 11:00 am on Monday, August 5, 2013 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 500 Fairview Avenue, Brentwood, CA. A reception will follow at Summerset III Clubhouse. A private family burial will follow at a later date. In recognition of his love for his parish and with heartfelt thanks for the loving care provided him by the Hospice staff at Bruns House during his final days, the family requests in lieu of flowers you consider a memorial donation to Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, or Hospice of the East Bay.
