Edward W. McCauley passed away unexpectedly at home in the presence of his beloved wife on Saturday, March 15, 2014 in Pleasanton, CA. Edward was born in Seattle, WA July 14, 1928, and raised there. After earning a BS at Seattle University, he went on to earn both a Master's degree, then a Phd in nuclear engineering, at the University of Washington
. While at Seattle University he met Beverley Fulton, and after serving 3 years in the Marines they married March 21, 1953. Edward brought his family to California in 1967 where he worked at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory until he retired. In this capacity he assisted in advancing nuclear safety all over the world for many years. His interests were many; he loved jazz music, wood working projects, reading, sports, the outdoors, family pets, and was an avid learner. Above all he loved his wife, children, grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter. He was a loving, caring husband, father, and grandfather. Edward is survived by his wife of almost 61 years, Beverley McCauley, and by their children Shannon Bielke, Reed McCauley, Hillary Junkin, Lindsey Jacobson, Grant McCauley, as well as his eight grandchildren, Taylor and Trent McCauley, Allison, Matthew, Jeffrey, and Hannah Bielke, Kirsie and Jenna Westwick, and great-granddaughter, Fiona Mae Patterson.
