Ernest Wutzke

Ernest Albert Wutzke Resident of Walnut Creek Passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 20th at the age of 86. His Family will greatly miss his humor, his positive outlook on life, and will treasure their memories of him always. Ernest Wutzke was born in Gackle, ND on September 2, 1926 to Freiderich Wutzke and Paulina (Kleingartner) Wutzke. He lived in Gackle with his family till they moved to Grand Forks, ND. He served in the Navy as a Pharmacist 3rd Class, and as a Hospital Corpsman. In 1949 He then Graduated from the University of North Dakota with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History and a minor in Physical Ed. In 1950 He was united in marriage to Hallie Karrine Trovatten. In 1952 He completed his Masters Degree from The University of North Dakota. He then went on to further his Education attending The University of California at Berkley where he received his Doctorate in ED Administration. Ernie Wutzke was the Principal at Ygnacio Valley High School in Concord, CA for 25 years. He was known on campus as "Smiling Ern or Doc". He loved his staff and students, and took great pride in Ygnacio Valley High. He served his last year before retiring in 1986 as Assistant Superintendent for the Mt. Diablo School District. Ernie and Hallie lived in Rossmoor, Walnut Creek, CA traveling extensively during their retirement. Ernest is preceded in death by his Father, Mother and Four older sisters Elsie, Ester, Emma, and Ruth. He is survived by his wife Hallie of 63 years, and his son Michael Wutzke and daughters Patricia Grahn and Mary Sherman, Grandchildren Hallie Wutzke, Wade Grahn, Mellissa and Nathan Sherman. A Celebration of Life Memorial for Ernest Wutzke will be held on Thursday May 9th at 11:00 am at the Fireside Room in the Gateway Club House in Rossmoor, "Walnut Creek, CA.
