Gerry passed away July 17, 2013 after a brief illness. He was born and raised in Bay Point, CA (later renamed Port Chicago) the youngest of 6 children of Venanzio and Rosa Lombardi. He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the Pacific Theater. He married Barbara Gillan in 1947, and they raised their family in Port Chicago until 1968 when they moved to West Pittsburg (currently Bay Point). Gerry made friends easily and had many of them in addition to his loving family. He enjoyed getting together with family and friends, duck hunting across the bay, playing cards and listening to music. In his later years his hobby became creating items made out of horseshoes, and he spent many hours in his basement workshop making chairs, crosses, fisherman and starbursts for his family and friends. He is survived by his son Scott Lombardi (Sandy), daughters Janet Burris (Xon) and Maureen Santos (Steve), 11 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Barbara, daughter Sandra Borman-Lombardi, brothers Elmo and Frank Lombardi, and sisters Vee Carlson, Mary Bidinost and Christine Withers. Visitation for Gerry will be held on Monday, July 22, 2013 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Ouimet Bros., Concord Funeral Chapel, 4125 Clayton Road, Concord, CA. A vigil service will be held on Monday at 6:00 PM at the chapel. A Funeral Liturgy will be held on Tuesday, July 23 at 10:00 AM at Our Lady, Queen Of The World Church, 3155 Winterbrook Drive, Bay Point, CA. He will be laid to rest at Holy Cross Cemetery in Antioch.
