Hedwig (Hedy) Solomon Resident of Walnut Creek Passed away on Thursday, November 22, 2012 after a brief illness. Born in Vienna, Austria on December 28, 1916 to Rudolph and Margarete Spitzer. In November 1938, she was imprisoned by Germans but with the persistence of her family, she escaped to London. She was the only member of her family to survive the Holocaust. While in London, she married the late WWII firefighter Albert Solomon. Her travels took her to Leeds, UK, Vancouver, Canada, Daly City and, finally, Rossmoor. Hedy is survived by two daughters, Ruth Watson of Lafayette, CA and Marcia Solomon of New Jersey, 7 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She was a loved and cherished by many, her feisty wit and tenacity will be missed by all. No services will be held.
