Henry Kelman

Henry Joseph Kelman Forest Knolls, Ca. Resident Henry, died Saturday April 13th 2013 in his home with his family after a long fight against Muscular Dystrophy at age 62. Born in San Francisco, Ca. on July 13th 1950 to Ben and Ann Kelman, Henry was an exceptional cabinet maker, carpenter and businessman. Henry opened his own artisan custom cabinet shop, Kitchen Cabinet Company, in 1973 in on Belvedere street in San Rafael, Ca. With his incredible attention to detail and extraordinary talent, Henrys business prospered. Henry went on to expand his company and founded Kelman Industries in 1983 then Benchmark Fixture Corporation in 1986 in Richmond, Ca. There, Henry joined Richmond Rotary Club in 1977 and remained an active, prominent member until his passing. Henry was a remarkable man who enjoyed stamp collecting, water skiing, and football. Though Henry was diagnosed with Muscular Dystrophy at age 45, he continued to live a happy, successful life with fortitude and determination. Henry is survived by his wife, Kathleen his son Benjamin and his daughters Caroline and Elizabeth; his brother Joseph and his wife Cindy and their two daughters Linda and Mary. Henrys absence will be deeply felt by his family and community in the Bay Area. Memorial services will be held at 2:00pm at La Strada restaurant in San Pablo, CA on Saturday, May 11th 2013. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
