Herbert Berkowitz
Feb. 21, 1934 - July 3, 2014
Resident of Concord
Herb passed away peacefully on the morning of July 3, 2014 at age 80, in his home, with his family by his side. Born to Sam and Mary Berkowitz on February 21, 1934, he grew up in Oakland, California.
After college and serving in the Army, Herb was a dedicated Salesman for Ben Feathers Co. (pet supplies), Leland Co. (plumbing supplies) and Zurier Co. (faucets), where he retired from in 1998.
Herb loved sports of all kinds, especially baseball. soccer and golf. He also had a fondness for fishing…anywhere! If there was a stream, river or lake nearby, you can bet he had his fishing line in it. A devoted father, Herb took tremendous pleasure in coaching his son's soccer teams. And in his later years, passed along his love for the game and truly enjoyed watching his granddaughter play soccer.
Herb is survived by his devoted wife Carolyn, daughter Pamela Bowles (Kevin), son Russell Berkowitz (Julz) and adored granddaughter Isabelle Berkowitz. He is also survived by his sister, Helene Weber, several sister and brother-in-laws, numerous nieces and nephews and other beloved family members and friends. He was the kindest most loving and generous man and will remain in the hearts of all who knew him.
A memorial in his honor will be held on Sunday, July 20, 2014 from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm at the San Ramon Community Center, 12501 Alcosta Blvd., San Ramon.
