Joan K. Heller Dec. 27, 1944 - Dec. 3, 2012 Resident of Lafayette Joan K. Heller, 67 of Lafayette, passed away Mon., Dec. 3 with her family at her side. She was born in Hartford, CT, Dec. 27, 1944, the youngest of ten children born to the late William and Veronica Crossen. Joan grew up in Bloomfield, CT and met and married Michael Heller, the love of her life, Dec. 1, 1973. They moved to California in 1974 and eventually moved to Lafayette in 1985 where they raised children and grandchildren. Joan had many creative talents which led her to open Lafayette Florist in 1990 and eventually opening a second store, Floral Fantasy, in San Ramon. When it came time to take over the raising of grandchildren, she sold the stores and became the best grandmother your could ask for. Coming from a large family who were involved the building trades, she remodeled her house to her and Michael's specifications so they could entertain and enjoy food and friendships. She joined the Soroptomist Clubs in Lafayette and spent a year preparing to launch the Soroptomist Crab Feed held at Oakwood Health Club for the last 5 years. Joan leaves her husband of 39 years, Michael Heller, a daughter Deana Smith, a son Jeff Smith, grandchildren; Chris Radziszewski, Amanda Radziszewski-Urbina, Anthony Deloache, Ashley Gould, great grandchildren, Gabrial and Arron Urbina, their father Oscor Urbina, mother in law Lilo Heller of Mill Valley, and four sisters; Doris Scully, Veronica Mikkelson, and Bernadette Sadownick of Connecticut, and Judy Burnett of Texas. She is also survived by an extended family including Brian and Beth Deloache, and Angela Deloache and many others too numerous to list. A memorial will be held at Chevalier Restaurant, 960 Moraga Road, Lafayette, CA. 925-385-0793, Sun., Dec. 9, from 1:00 to 4:00 to celebrate a great woman, mother, and loving wife.
