John Calvin Dolim died in Walnut Creek on February 19, 2013 at the age of 82. A native of Hawaii, John moved to the Bay Area in 1951. He and his loving wife of 47 years, Suzanne, were married at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Walnut Creek. While attending St. Mary's College, John enlisted in the US Army, served as a Lieutenant, during the Korean War and Reserve duty. Upon graduating from St. Mary's College, John worked as an insurance underwriter with Royal Globe for 30 years before retiring in 1985. He was a member of the Early Ford V-8 Club and the St. Mary's College Alumni Association. He enjoyed time with family, attending his grandsons high school games, eating at the Hickory Pit, Wednesday lunch at In N Out, 6:30 am mass on Sunday, his car club events and trips to Idaho.
John is survived by his son: Mark Dolim of Walnut Creek; daughters: Ann Ziebarth of Dublin, Amy Davis of Walnut Creek, Mara Briggs of Lewisville, ID; brother George Dolim of San Mateo, 13 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM, March 2, 2013 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 2039 Mt. Diablo Blvd., Walnut Creek. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano, P.O. Box 6324, Concord, CA 94524
