John Metcho, 85, died August 9, 2013 at home in Concord. John was born July 20, 1928 in Dunmore, Pennsylvania to the late Susan and Stephan Metcho. He graduated from Lincoln High School in Cleveland, Ohio and served his country in the US Army. John attended Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo and graduated with an AA Degree in Management from Diablo Valley College in Pleasant Hill. He worked for over 39 years with California Water District and Contra Costa Water District, retiring as a Senior Customer Service Rep. John was a Thoroughbred Horse owner/breeder from 1967-1981. He was a member of Redmen Drum Corp, Concord Elks Lodge, Concord Moose Lodge and Concord Athletic Club. John enjoyed gardening especially Roses, Sports (playing City Football in 1950-1951), Bocce, Bowling and creating Quotes (Decodaquote). He is survived by his wife, Casey, children Mark, Matt (Karen) and Stephanie (Brad), grandchildren Jeffery and Erin (Kevin). John was predeceased by his first wife Jean, parents, brothers Pete, Steven, Mike and Eugene as well as sisters Mary and Ann. A Memorial Service will be Friday, August 30, 2013 at 11AM at Ouimet Bros. Concord Funeral Chapel, 4125 Clayton Road, Concord. Memorials may be made to Kaiser Hospice.
