Joseph DiMercurio Sep. 15, 1932 Dec. 7, 2013 Resident of Antioch Joe passed away on December 7, after having hip surgery at the age of 81. Joe was born in Pittsburg, CA and graduated from Pittsburg High School in 1950. He then attended Contra Costa Community College before joining the Navy in 1951. He served four years in the Navy and spent most of this time aboard the USS Rendova during the Korean War
. In 1953 he married his High School sweetheart, Helen Nobili. They had three children. Joe worked for Pacific Bell for 34 years and then was a contractor for them an additional ten years before retiring in 2001. Having a passion for sports, Joe was a star football player for the Pirate High School team and was a lifelong San Francisco Giants and 49er fan. He enjoyed hunting and fishing in the delta. He was a modest man and his joy was love of family and friends. Joe is preceded in death by his parents Sal and Leanora DiMercurio, his two brothers Sal "Sonny" DiMercurio and an infant brother, and his in-laws Olivo and Maria Nobili. Joe is survived by his wife of 60 years, Helen, their son, Joseph and his wife, Stacey, their daughter Lori DiMercurio and her partner Steven Smith; their son Greg DiMercurio; his sister-in-laws Mary Jean Borrelli and Carol Bonanno and her husband, Gary; and sister-in-law Shirley DiMercurio. Also surviving are three loving grandchildren, Alexandra and Joey DiMercurio and Nicole Cuellar (and her father Anthony Cuellar) and many nieces and nephews.
