Les passed away peacefully at home on November 19, 2013. He was 78 years old. Les was born in San Francisco, CA and served his country in the Naval Submarine Service. He later attended San Francisco State College, graduating in 1973. Les worked for Standard Oil Company (Chevron) for close to 40 years, retiring from Human Resources. Helping people was his nature. He was a kind and gentle man who was quick with a joke and a sense of humor that knew no bounds. He was always there for others. Les married his high school sweetheart, Virginia Gagos in 1955. They were blessed to have 58 years together and two children, Stephen and Sharon. He leaves behind 3 sisters, 1 brother, countless nieces and nephews, 6 grandchildren and 1 great grandson. Les and Virginia loved to travel the world, seeing many exotic locales. Les served as Compassionate Chairman for the Chevron Retirees-East Bay and was also a member of the Richmond Elks Club. An avid golfer, his greatest moment was achieving a Hole-In-One. The family wishes to thank Lisa B. with Palliative Care at John Muir Hospital and the entire Hospice of the East Bay team.
