Lewis Martin Allen

Lewis Martin Allen Apr. 13, 1926 - Dec. 9, 2013 Resident of Concord, CA. Lewis Martin Allen, son of Lewis Martin Allen and Phoebe Carrol Sligar Allen, died in his home at the age of 87. Lewis grew up in Marysville, CA. and graduated from Berkeley High in 1944. He joined the U.S. Navy and served during WWII on the U.S.S. General Langfitt - AP151 and received an honorable discharge in 1946. He graduated from Armstrong Business College in Accounting and Finance in 1949. He then went to work for American Trust Company with a starting salary of $200.00 a month. In 1950 he married Joan Shapiro and had his first son, David Robert Allen. In 1955 Lewis married Diana Ruth Doran. They had 9 children during their 42 year marriage. In 1956 served as Auditor for the Government of America Samoa, returning to Wells Fargo Bank until he retired at the age 57. Lewis was blessed with a large family and many friends. He is survived by his children: David (Christie) Hill, Cynthia (David) Allen, Chas (Patricia) Allen, Karen (Rick) Nickolette, Lewis Allen, Milly (Joel) Park, Maureen (Brett) Allen, and Marilyn (Frank) Ormonde, 29 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. Two sons died at birth Robert 1965 and Matthew 1967 respectively. Lewis always said, "The Church gave us a greater understanding of our purpose in life and an infinitely greater appreciation of our family and marriage. His passion for life was family, friends, serving church and community. He loved genealogy research, wood working, growing tomatoes and making sure he "kept tabs on his children". We all knew we were his "favorite". Memorial Service will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on January 11th 2014 at 11:00 a.m., 1590 Denkinger Rd, Concord, CA 94521, followed by a Military Service in Dixon California.
