Lorraine Mary (Cavender) Ebright
Dec. 10, 1931-June 11, 2013
Resident of Pleasanton
After a long struggle with C.O.P.D., my beloved Lorraine went to be with her Lord.
She was born in Newcastle ,PA and at the age of nine, moved to Swissvale, PA. She graduated Swissvale High in 1949. She soon became a secretary at General Motors
where she earned the nickname "Little Flower". She was 92 pounds, soaking wet.
In August, 1952 she met Paul at a big band dance at Kennywood Park. They went dancing almost every Saturday thereafter. Love blossomed and it was so easy because Lorraine was the kind of person who was so easy to love. If you met her one time, you would want to be her friend.
She had three daughters, Nancy, Rene', and Michele and she was a great mom. The family spent four years in Erie, PA and that was enough cold and snow for her and the girls. They all hated that weather.
In 1968 the family came to California and ended up in Pleasanton. Lorraine worked as a legal secretary for several law firms in the Pleasanton area. She quite enjoyed the law.
Lorraine loved the Lord, her family and Pleasanton. She liked dancing, Dixieland music, big bands and above all a party, as a hostess or a guest. She had that impish Irish wit to the end.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years and their three daughters and five grandchildren.
No flowers, please. Her favorite charities were Disabled American Veterans and the A.S.P.C.A.
It was a great dance!
A celebration of her life will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1225 Hopyard Rd., Pleasanton on June 22, 2013, at 11:00 a.m.. A reception will follow. Please wear purple.
