Noel Edmund "Papa" Manfroi

Noel Manfroi passed away early Friday morning with his family by his side. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Diane; daughters Lori Mitchell (Kevin), Linda Knapp (Mike) and Shari D'Aquino (Tom), 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, his beloved dogs Woof and Stella, and many other nieces, nephews, dear friends and neighbors. Noel was preceded in death by his infant grandsons Matthew and Jameason, brother Norbert, sister Margie and most recently his son Jeff.
Noel was born and raised in Toluca, Illinois to Mario and Madeline (Sosh). He joined the Navy at age 17 and served on the USS Bonhomme Richard as a submarine mechanic. He met and married Diane Pillon in 1955 in San Francisco. They bought their first house in Concord in 1965 where they raised their family and still reside. Noel's occupation was sales and service of office equipment. His first business was "The Typewriter Guy" in San Francisco. Noel loved history, fishing, boating, motorcycles, trains, classic car restoration, and most especially, his family. He was an active member of the Oakland Motorcycle Club and loved riding with his "second family". He will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.
A Memorial Service is planned for Tuesday, May 13 at 1:00 pm at Hull's Chapel, 1139 Saranap Avenue, Walnut Creek. Donations in Noel's name may be made to Hospice of the East Bay.
