Richard Joe "Cavo" Martinez

Richard "Cavo" Joe Martinez
May 25,1960 - July 1,2013
Resident of Concord
Cavo was born in San Francisco. He grew up in the City's Mission District and attended John O'Connell High School. For the past five years, Cavo worked as a bartender at the Marriott in Walnut Creek. He was so popular there he had his own signature drink, the "CavoLicious." Cavo had a lifelong passion for music and was a drummer for several bands, including Xecutive Sweet, Night Shift and The Robert Diaz Band. He played the drums, congas, bongos, timbales and many other percussion instruments. Cavo was a member of the Concord Moose Lodge and enjoyed the Renaissance Faire, the Animal Planet Channel, and concert DVDs. When not working or drumming, Cavo spent countless hours with his family, cooking, telling jokes and stories, and making everyone laugh. Cavo is survived by his soul mate of thirteen years, Jeanie Ibarra; his sons, Adam Wilson and Enrique Bolaños; his dog, Belle Martinez; and his siblings, Raymond Martinez, Toniann Martinez, Katie Martinez and Mike Martinez. His sister, Carmen Martinez, preceded him in death, as did his parents, Richard and Helen Martinez. Cavo was deeply loved by many other family members and friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. A viewing from 5:00-6:00pm and service at 6:00pm will be held at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church, 5562 Clayton Rd, Concord, CA 94521 on Tuesday, July 9th. In lieu of flowers, any donations given to the family will be greatly appreciated.
