Robert "Connor" Gass Resident of El Cerrito Connor passed away peacefully at his home in El Cerrito on Friday, March 1st, 2013. Connor was born in Corning, CA in 1925 and grew up there on an olive ranch during the depression. Upon graduating from Corning High School he enlisted in the Army
Air Force. His service during WWII allowed Connor to travel throughout the world and created a wealth of memories. Upon honorable discharge, he studied chemistry at Chico State where he met his wife-to-be, Diane Edwards. After completing a MS in Chemistry at University of the Pacific he began working for Cal Ink Co in Berkeley as a chemist. Some 40 years later he retired from the same company. Connor and his wife settled in El Cerrito with their 3 children; Susan, Steven and Sheila. He was active in scouting and Mira Vista United Church of Christ. He maintained the family olive orchard which brought him great joy. He will be remembered by many as a true friend who could fix most anything. He is survived by a brother, George 'Sandy' Gass; his 3 children; Susan and David Welsh, Steven and Heather Gass, Sheila and Randy Kincade; grand children, Kaitlin Kincade and Steven Colagiovanni and Emily Kincade, as well as numerous friends. His beloved wife, Diane Gass, passed away in 2011. A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday March 23 at 10:30 AM at Mira Vista United Church of Christ, 780 Ashbury Ave, El Cerrito. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made through Mira Vista United Church of Christ.
