Passed away peacefully surrounded by his family. Bob Lustenberger was born and raised in San Francisco. He was the son of Lyla and Chester Lustenberger. He attended Sacred Heart High School. Bob served in the Navy in the Philippines during World War II. He earned his undergraduate degree at Saint Mary's College in Moraga, his Master of Arts Degree and teaching credential at San Francisco State.
Bob married his long time sweetheart Betty in 1951, and they were happily married for over 58 years until she passed away in 2010. They lived in San Francisco, South San Francisco, and Millbrae.
Bob was a playground supervisor, a long time teacher and Administrator for the SFUSD. He was also very active in the city of Millbrae, having served as a Millbrae Parks & Recreation Commissioner, and Senior Center Treasurer. Bob was a long time Parishioner of St. Dunstan Catholic Church in Millbrae and more recently attended St. Augustine Church in Pleasanton.
Bob is survived by his four children: Terry (Al) Exner, Bill Lustenberger, Joan (Jack) Purcell, Jill (Scott) Sebben, six grandchildren: Mike (Sara), Scott (Lia), Samantha, Kim (Ray), Billy, Holly and great granddaughter Claire.
Bob was a true gentleman, and full of "Irish Blarney"! The family would like to thank all his wonderful caregivers for their love and support. We will miss him dearly.
Family and friends are invited to attend the memorial Mass, Friday, February 21, 2014, 10:00 A.M. at St. Dunstan Catholic Church, 1133 Broadway in Millbrae. Private inurnment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Colma. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the , 1060 La Avenida, Mountain View, CA 94043 (www.alz.org).
