Robert White

Robert L. White Resident of Walnut Creek Robert (Bob) L. White, 95, passed away peacefully in Walnut Creek CA, on November 3, 2012. Bob was a loving husband & devoted father. Bob graduated from Santa Monica High School, attended San Mateo Junior College & enlisted in the U.S. Navy prior to WWII. He served on the USS Enterprise ("Big E"), attached to Torpedo Squadron 6 as a radioman-tail gunner as well as various shore assignments. He had a successful career in the defense electronics industry & retired from Raytheon Company after 27 years of employment. Bob's hobbies included reading, writing, & firearms. He was a life member of the IEEE, the NRA & the Winchester Canyon Gun Club. He always quipped that he had a life-long desire to join the "Procrastinator's Club" . . . but never got around to it. He was preceded in death by his wife of fifty-two years, Peggy, his sisters Dorothy DeLane and Ardith White. Bob is survived by his children: Gina Drakes, Roberta Hatfield, Peter White (Ramona Hood-White), Ginger White, & Sally White; grandchildren Melissa Wedel, Maya Hood White, Sasha White, SPC Brian White & great-grandchildren Sophie & Ava Wedel. Memorial services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to Hospice of the East Bay (3470 Buskirk Ave, Pleasant Hill, CA 94523) or Direct Relief International (www.directrelief.org)
