Shirley Ripley

Shirley M. Ripley July 2, 1920 - May 30, 2013 Resident of Rocklin, Ca. Shirley passed away on Thursday, May 30, 2013, at the age of 92, at Agape Care Home in Rocklin, California. She was born in Richmond, California, to Martha and Harry Orthman and was predeceased by husband James Orville (Jim) Ripley, sister Bettey Taylor, and brother Harry "Bud" Orthman. Shirley and Jim enjoyed many years of involvement with the Richmond Elks Lodge #1251 and golfing at Franklin Canyon Golf Club. Shirley graduated from Richmond High School and danced for Mathilda Meyer for many years before her marriage to William C. "Bill" McDowall. Shirley worked at Brookside Hospital, in several doctor's offices and was a bookkeeper for a local muffler shop. Shirley is survived by family including daughter Marcia Bush (Bruce) of Lincoln, son Bill McDowall (Pauline) of Argyle, TX, and step children Donna Mythen (Nick) of Pinole, Dianna Hardy (Jack) of Prescott, AZ, and James Ripley (Jennifer) of Grants Pass, OR, as well as 10 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren. There will be a family gathering in celebration of Shirley's life.
