Albert Sullenger Obituary

Albert Lee Sullenger Feb. 3, 1922~July 5, 2009 Resident of San Pablo Albert was born Feb. 3, 1922 in Shawnee Township, Kansas, son of Jessie Sull- enger and Stella Nelson, Al was raised by his Grandfather on the Nelson side. He had no other siblings. He had cousins on both the Nelson and Morrison sides of the family, and those still alive live in Kansas, and Missouri. He passed away at the age of 87 on July 5, 2009 at 8:45am peacefully in his apartment at Emeritus Assisted Living. In Sept. 23, 1942 Albert joined the Army, he was in the 170th Field Artillery and honorary discharged from duty Nov. 7, 1945. Moved to California with his cousin Samuel W. & Dorthy Morrison. He joined the Carpenters Union Dec 1945, Local #1047 in San Francisco, California 1946 to 1972. He switched to Local #1861 working for Deluxe Floor Co. 1972 until his retirement on Feb. 30, 1993. The Owner of Deluxe Floor Co. was Harlen Hamner, and over the years Albert became best of friends and like a brother to Harlen, Jack, and Walter Hamner. Great Friends were Jack & Chris Fitzgerald. After Albert retired he spent a lot of his time at the Berkeley Marina, going out on the EL DORADO II & III, helping Captain Ed. Gallia with the charters. Al had lots of friends and Fishing Buddies, Bill Bell, Gil Sutherland, Jack Fitzgerald, all his buddies down at the Marina, Sil DeFazio, Capt. Jesse, and Fast Eddie. Al was a Life time member of the Moose Club, a member of the San Pablo Sports Club. Albert's wishes were to have his ashes spread out in the ocean on the EL DORADO III, with his friends in attendance. There will be no other services. Wilson & Kratzer (510) 232-6552
