Mary Morton Obituary

Mary R. Morton May 28, 1930 ~ April 29, 2011 Resident of Oakley, CA Mary R. Morton passed away on Friday, April 29, 2011 at 4:15am after a long battle with breast cancer. She is no longer in pain and is now at peace. Mary was born in Leewarden, Nederland. She met and married Leland Houghton and had 2 sons. In 1969 she met and married George Morton, and they moved to the Bay Area. Mary enjoyed her stamp collection, going to Taco Tuesday at her club, visiting and shopping with friends, watching movies, piecing together puzzles and traveling the world. She was a founding member of the Driftwood Yacht Club in Oakley, CA. Mary often did charity work for the Oakland Children's Hospital and Make A Wish Foundation. Mary is survived by her children David Houghton (wife Trish) and Richard Houghton (wife Monica); and her grandchildren Jessica Houghton Hagan (husband Kyle) and Keith Houghton. Also survived by her family in Holland sisters Tine (husband Jerek) and Annie (husband Hank); twelve nieces and nephews and numerous great-nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her mother and father, and brother Dick. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to one of these charities in Mary's honor American Cancer Society, Make a Wish Foundation or Children's Hospital. A celebration of her life is being planned.
