Paul Zaro Obituary

Paul Zaro
May 20, 1946 - May 24, 2013
Resident of Tahoe City, Ca
Born in Oakland and raised in Walnut Creek, Paul lost his battle with cancer in Tahoe City, Friday, May 24, 2013. After graduation from Ygnacio Valley High School Class of 64, Paul enlisted in the Air Force and spent his time working on electronics for the fighter jets at George Air Force Base in California. On the weekends he performed in bands and musical theater at Victorville Community College. When discharged, he returned to the Bay Area and began his music career forming many bands and playing in various venues around the Bay Area, mostly as the House Band "Sweet Smoke" and "Dandelion Wine" at Pierce Street Annex in San Francisco. In 1982, he began his career at ABC/KGO television as a sound technician, eventually moving on to work cameraman in the "Live" truck, winning two Emmy awards for his work.
Paul was a part and full time resident of Tahoe City for the last 14 years and could be found on the golf course, ski trails and sitting in for a song with musicians in the Truckee-Tahoe area. He had an adventurous spirit, with lots of plans, and most recently returned from a 5 month cruise to Mexico on their sailboat. Paul is survived by his wife, Priscilla, sisters Georganne Eddy (Bob), Wendy Mullins (Mike) and Sherry Condie (Dick) and many nieces, a nephew and many friends and colleagues. He was preceded in death by his parents George and Suzanne Zaro, brothers George and Jim Zaro. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate your donations be directed to the Gene Upshaw Memorial Cancer Center, 10161 Donner Pass Road, Truckee, CA 96161, Stand Up 2 Cancer, American Cancer Society, UC Davis, to fund research for a cure. Paul was on of the first people I met when I moved here from Colorado as a freshman at Mt. Diablo HS. Marching band was great. Then we were moved to open as the first class of Juniors then Seniors at Ygnacio Vlalley High School Class of 1964,

Paul and I kept in touch over the years and I am most saddened by his early passing. God Speed my friend!!! Thanks for the friendship!
