Marshall Grant Obituary
Dec. 17, 1935 - Dec. 24, 2013
Resident of San Ramon
A devoted family man and resident of Dublin and San Ramon since 1961 passed away peacefully at his home on December 24, 2013.
Marshall was born and raised in Oakland California. He graduated from Oakland high school in 1954 where he met the love of his life, Karen Gilliland Grant. Marshall and Karen were married in 1956 in Oakland and shortly thereafter moved to Dublin where they raised their three children, Steve, Cindy and Jim.
Marshall spent 34 years working for Western Electric in San Leandro. During his career he managed all aspects of the business and eventually became the superintendent of the entire plant. He was instrumental in founding and developing Dublin Little League baseball and Dublin Pop Warner football. In addition, he was a highly respected coach in both sports.
Preceded in death by his beloved wife of 46 years, Karen, Marshall is survived by his sons Steve Grant and Jim Grant and daughter Cindy Garratt. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Marshall was predeceased by his devoted brother Bob and devoted sister Bonnie. He is also survived by his loving sisters Marlene Grant and Carol Herrera and loving brother Don Grant.
Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of Marshall's life at John Knox Presbyterian Church in Dublin on Saturday, January 11 at 11 AM with a reception to follow at San Ramon community center.
