James Wright Sr.

James Wright, Sr. Resident of Livermore, CA "Papa" Jim passed away on Dec. 3, 2013 after a short battle with cancer. Papa was born in Lebanon, Missouri on Nov.16,1942. He moved to Oakland, Ca. with his family when he was about 12 years old. In 1966 his lifelong dream of becoming a firefighter came true when he was hired by the Livermore Fire Department. He went on in the department to become an Battlion Chief, somethig he was very proud to have accomplished. Papa and his family moved to Livermore and became an instant part of the community. He is survived by the love of his life. Geri of fifty years. He is also survived by his children, Jim and Trina Wright, Kristina and George Freelen and the joys of his heart, his grandchildren, Rachel, Keegan and Kyle. He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law, John and Lillian Shebelut, many nieces, nephews, cousins and his "bonus family Anne, Frank, Celina, Victoria, Sofia and Franco Moufarrej and many other "bonus" children and grandchildren. Papa loved creating and making things, doing upholstery, fishing, working in his yard, reading western novels and books about the Civil War. His greatest passion was watching his grandchildren play sports and just being with family. He was always on call for whatever his grandchildren or children needed. His grandchildren's favorite line was "Papa fix". Papa was so loved by so many and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Everyone he met was his instant friend. Either flowers or donations to the American Cancer Society will equally be appreciated. Services will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Callaghan Mortuary.
