Alice M. Cummings died on December 12 at her home in Walnut Creek, California. Alice was born and raised in Ashland, Wisconsin and later moved to California after graduating from business school. She then married James Cummings and eventually moved to Alamo. While in Alamo, Alice worked for the Contra Costa Department of Agriculture for many years. In 1989, both Jim and Alice decided to move to Rossmoor to spend their retirement. There she enjoyed water aerobics, reading and traveling. Alice also spent thousands of hours as a volunteer helping people at the John Muir Outpatient Clinic. She was a fabulous cook and loved sharing her delicious cookies with family and friends. Alice recently moved to Byron Park where she enjoyed the company of many new friends.
Alice is pre-deceased by her husband of 55 years and is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and John Schulz, grandchildren James and Christine Schulz, grand-daughter-in-law Carla Schulz and great-grand-daughter Audrey Schulz.
At her request, no services will be held. Memorial gifts may be made to a favorite charity.

Barbara, Our mother, Ann Carter, is deeply saddened at the loss of such a long time friend. They first met when they moved to Kinney Drive in Walnut Creek in 1953! My sisters and I remember the long standing friendship between your parents and ours, and send our sympathy to you and your family at her loss.
