Resident of Walnut Creek
Doris Tosaw Hayes , 90 yrs, of Walnut Creek, CA passed away on Dec. 19, 2013. She was born Sept. 1, 1923 in Rosebud, TX to Henry and Elizabeth (Adam) Ernst. Doris was a registered nurse who worked for 20 yrs. at Peninsula Hospital in Burlingame, CA. She was also a veteran of WWII, serving in the US Navy. For 26 years, she enjoyed a happy marriage to Michael A. Tosaw who passed away in 1976. In 1983, Doris married Richard F. Hayes and enjoyed a second loving marriage, which spanned 30 years. Doris is survived by her husband Richard F. Hayes of Walnut Creek; daughters Susan Marks of Oakland, Sharon Barnes (Keith) of Portland, OR and Shelley Kolb (William) of San Jose; step children Margaret Cappasola (Gray) of Rainbow, CA and Richard T. Hayes (Paty) of Chula Vista; brother Billy E. Ernst of Rosebud, TX; grandchildren Christopher Marks, Allecia Vermillion, Alexandra and Wyatt Barnes, Tony, Danny, Lisa and Kalyn Cappasola and Richard Hayes; three great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Doris was predeceased by brothers Erwin, Roy, and Clyde Gerald Ernst. Funeral Liturgy will be Friday, December 27, 2013 10:30 AM at St. John Vianney Catholic Church 1650 Ygnacio Valley Rd. Walnut Creek. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Los Altos, CA
