Jacqueline Lietz Obituary

Jacqueline Lietz
April 14, 1950 - Dec. 23, 2013
Resident of Walnut Creek
Jacquie peacefully passed away after a courageous battle with cancer.

Jacquie's competitive spirit led her to be one of the nation's top riders. As an adult she remained active in the horse community, judging and stewarding shows.

Jacquie worked for Walnut Creek's Civic Arts Education Program and loved greeting everyone with a smile and helping plan special events at Shadelands.

Together, Jacquie and Walt traveled to over 20 countries. She loved experiencing new cultures and filling her trip with every Rick Steves suggestion.

Jacquie had a generous heart and loving spirit that lived to help others. Some of her greatest memories were volunteering for Scottsdale Squids, Aquabears, Aquanuts, Guide Dogs, and Porsche Club of America.

She is survived by Walt, her devoted husband of 37 years, her daughters Heather Maddox and Heidi McMillan, along with their husbands Jason Maddox, Danny McMillan, and her 6 darling grandchildren; Scott, Tyler, Roman, Kira, Paisley and Blake as well as her beloved "Jersey" Family.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Friends of Civic Arts Education Foundation (www.friendsartsed.org), which provides art scholarships for children.

A celebration of her life will be held at Saint Matthew Lutheran Church, 399 Wiget Lane, Walnut Creek, CA on Tuesday, January 14th at 1:30 PM followed by a reception.

Jacquie brought 200% committment to everything she did and an amazing amount of energy too. We all had a lot of laughs and fun at the ice rink in Sunvalley Mall with Jacquie leading the way. My deepest condolences to Walt, Heather and Heidi at this very difficult time.

I was so terribly saddened about Jacquie's passing. I moved from Walnut Creek eighteen months ago and heard from a friend that Jacquie passed away. Jacquie was a shining light at Civic Arts Ed, always so helpful to everyone as we busily coordinated Viva Arts year after year. For me Jacquie was a go-to woman because she would always help in any way she could while talking about her beautiful family. My sincere condolences to the Lietz family.
