Resident of Walnut Creek
Joane passed away in her home in Walnut Creek, after a long battle with lung cancer. Born in Concord, CA in 1946 to James and Jane Evans Patton, she lived in many California communities including Santa Rosa, Bakersfield, and Sacramento before retiring to Hawaii. A 13-year resident of Kailua-Kona, she enjoyed a leisurely life that included golf.
She worked for many years in State Compensation Insurance Fund but enjoyed careers including real estate, home-decorating and medical office management.
Upon returning to California in 2008, she became a resident of Rossmoor, where she was active in many clubs and groups including the Ballroom Dance Club, the Penguin Club and the Cotillion Club. She enjoyed dancing and music.
She is survived by her son Scott Edgar and his wife Laurie of Danville, CA, her brother Raphael Patton of Saint Mary's College and her ex-husband Wendell Summers of Chico, CA.
She will be remembered for her ability to make many lasting friendships and building strong relationships with all she met. She is missed greatly
A memorial service will be held in the near future.
